Focke-Wulf Fw190D-9 "JV44 Papagei Staffel" were assigned to protect Me-262 jet fighter when taking off or landing. The Me-262 was so fast about the only way Allied fighters could catch it to shoot it down was to get them as they were taking off or landing. So the Germans developed special squadrons of propeller driven planes to fly cover for the jets. To avoid being shot down by German flak guns these Fw190s were painted in bright colors on the underside so the flak crews could tell them apart from the Allied planes.
Box has been opened, see pictures which are part of the description.
