Tiger II with Porsche Turret Panzer IV, used the standard production Tiger II hull but the turret originally intended for the Porsche designed hulls that later became the Ferdinand tank destroyer. These were the heaviest production tanks to see action in World War Two. The German Tiger II was a massive, heavily armored tank with a long barrel, high velocity 88mm gun. Fewer than 500 of these vehicles were made in all versions and they served on all fronts. The official unit organization was three platoons of four tanks each, and two headquarters vehicles for a company total of fourteen tanks. A battalion consisted of three companies. Both tank types were used together and the earlier Porsche turret version was often mixed with the earlier Tiger I tank.
